Different Era

I seriously wish I could experience living in a different time period. Like the 50's! I could totally dig the whole all american diners, with corny music playing, pin up girls, high-waisted dresses, boys with slicked hair and a comb in their pockets at all times, actual dancing that's lively and fun, using words such as "swell" and "golly", old fashioned cars, drive in theaters, courting, etc.
OR the 1920's! haha all the jazz, liquor, and fashion! The time of flappers, dancing such as the charleston, fox trot, and the shimmy, ...entertainment like jazz shows, comedy, and dramas... short sassy hair, pearls pearls pearls, etc.

But of course, there are a lot of improvements to life today that they didn't have then that I wouldn't give up.

It is cool living in Orange because I feel like I'm in a different time period sometimes cause Orange has that 50's feel in a way. "That Thing You Do" was filmed here after all. Charming small town with stores from the past, a LOT of old fashion cars, an old diner (from the movie "that thing you do"). Clock tower.

I Am From

I Am From...

I am from California sunshine and curly bleach blonde hair
Naps on the beach, honeysuckle treats, riding skateboards down the street

I am from grandma and grandpa's house on the hill
A single mother, beautiful and brave
Green eyes just like daddy, Dave
Disney princesses, sunflower dresses, a tomboy at heart, played with the boys at Rocketship Park
Warm by noon, grandpa whistles a happy tune, and says, "Go ahead honey, kick to the moon!"

I am from pine trees, smell of fresh rain, green, not at all plain
Friends at my side for fun and games, but even through times not so tame
The gospel, songs of praise, God's grace, and blessings most days
A big family, crazy, loving, and full of laughter
A heart waiting to be captured

I am from the stage, the choir, and the dance floor
Trips to London and Paris, but still wanting more
Big dreams of my star on a street
A University in a charming, small town
I'm the one sipping starbucks on the bench in a white gown

That's where I am from...

Showers

My highlight of my day today was taking a nice, warm shower. haha. I seriously look forward to when I take a shower. I love being able to either think about absolutely nothing and just breathe.. relax. Or take the time to let my mind run wild with deep thoughts. Or even just day dream.

There's something so soothing about a shower, I don't know exactly what it is! Perhaps the feeling of curling up and letting the hot water wash away your stress. I used to be a 5 minute shower person (which I still can do), but now I'm much more of a 15 min shower person. mmm comfort :)

Love

Ok, I don't know if I'm the only one who has done this, but awhile back I made a list of qualities I want in a husband. Near the top of the list is "passionate". One of my favorite movies is "Becoming Jane" and when I think of passion I think of the scene at the ball where Jane is outside by the fountain contemplating the offer of marriage from Wesley (a decent man, but she does not love him). Then Tom Lefroy (a man of higher status than Jane, but who has fallen for her) comes out and says "How could you of all people dispose of yourself without passion?", Jane replies, "How can I dispose of myself with it? ... You're leaving tomorrow." Then she kisses him. He caresses her cheek, they stare into each other's eyes and she says, "I wanted to be able to do it well just once." Then they are overwhelmed with their love for each other and decide they must follow what they feel and know is right. They excitedly discuss what can be done!

Then Lefroy says, "Jane I'm yours, I'm yours heart and soul"

I remember watching that scene one night and starting to pray and hope that I would have that kind of love. Someone who will be mine heart and soul and I his in return. But is that unrealistic to want that deep, breath taking love full of passion? And to want to go wherever each other are just to be with each other? Part of me thinks that it might be too rare. But then I think that love is meant to be like that because that's what makes a marriage, a commitment, to someone last forever.

But then in the movie, Tom and Jane don't get to be together... that love is there, but they don't get to have it. They sacrifice it for the sake of others they care about. So maybe some people only get to experience that love but not have it forever. I hope I get to have it forever.

yup this is what goes on in my head.

Cynthia Szigeti

Last Tuesday night I went to my acting class in Studio City (LA) and that night we had a guest, Cynthia Szigeti, who is an incredible improv teacher. She's been teaching inprov for about 30 yrs. She was in "the groundlings" improv group in LA, she did improv with Robin Williams and Conan O'Brien as well as taught Lisa Kudrow. I was mesmerized, she's a big deal. And it was so fun to work with her! But it wasn't her past accomplishments that stuck with me the most, it was a piece of advice she gave us. She said, "Have a life. Don't throw everything away to pursue one dream you have, because you won't stand a chance, you'll be out in a year."

I think that gives me more peace to know I should be pursuing other dreams I have, not just the one that is the most grand. Because if you give up everything to pursue one of your dreams, it'll all just fall apart. Also, by pursuing different dreams at the same time, you can discover more dreams you didn't even know you had or wanted.
